The health benefits of organic lawn and our amazing deck remodel
Organic vs. chemical weed control
There has been much reporting recently on the link between the key component found in RoundUp Weed & Grass Killer and a form of cancer known as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Studies have shown a heightened risk of cancer in those exposed to large doses of this chemical over a prolonged period, especially farmers and landscaping professionals. We at Gerbert & Sons are proud to have been promoting organic approaches and solutions since our founding in 1945, keeping our employees, homeowners, and the environment safe from the harmful effects of chemically based property care. For a broad spectrum herbicide we apply BurnOut, an all-natural product approved for organic gardening and completely non-toxic. Citric acid and clove oil are the active food grade ingredients in this product, making it safe for people, pets, and plants. It is 100% biodegradable and breaks down within 24 hours, leaving no residual issues or impact on well water.
Creating a stunning outdoor living space
We are hard at work on a gorgeous deck and patio remodel for a Fairfield County client and will be sharing our progress over the next few months, as we move from initial plans to final spectacular reveal. This project began with the inspired design of Barbara Wilson, Landscape Architect, LLC and we are working side-by-side with our expert partners and talented craftsmen to make this spacious and modern outdoor living space a reality. The first phase involved removing the old, worn deck and outdated patio so we could prepare the property for installation of footings and supports needed for the new deck construction and groundwork for a custom spa area. This is just the beginning – keep checking back through the summer for future blog post updates as this beautiful project comes to life.
Check back on the progress of our deck remodel in upcoming blogs and contact us for more information on our commitment to organic property care.
