Preventing Pests & Ticks Organically
Add a layer of protection now
Late winter or early spring is the ideal time to consider a spray of our organic dormant oil to control pests and diseases around your property before plantings begin to show signs of budding. This coating disrupts the breeding cycle of aphids, whiteflies, scale, mites and other insects before their eggs and spores can mature, controlling such diseases as powdery mildew, rust, leaf curl, black and brown rot to name a few. It is effective in protecting maples, walnut trees, certain fruit trees, boxwoods and roses. Our horticultural experts will determine which elements of your landscape would benefit from this preventative treatment and schedule the optimal time for its professional application.
Get a jump on ticks
Once again, with the return of warmer weather comes the threat of diseases that may be transmitted to humans and pets from the active tick population in our area. At Gerbert & Sons, we continue to monitor this threat and have stayed on top of effective organic deterrent strategies to protect our clients and their families. We begin in early spring with the first of our 4-stage organic spray program that continues until early fall, attacking the ticks at every stage of their development. This professionally applied spray is safe for the environment and will not harm pets. Additionally, we may place tick tubes that contain a tick specific insecticide around the property to kill immature ticks before they can pass on any diseases. As a further line of defence, we employ several proven deer deterrent strategies to keep tick carrying deer away from your property.
