Keep Your Property and Its Irrigation System “Green”
Conserving our precious water supply
As we move into the hotter weather of summer with increased demands on watering your property, Gerbert & Sons recommends taking proactive steps to achieve the highest efficiency of your irrigation system. Aquarion Water Company continues to impose a mandatory irrigation schedule for area towns, including Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Stamford, and Westport. Depending on your address number, sprinkler systems are limited to operating twice a week at designated times of the day. However, installing or upgrading to a certified WaterSense high efficiency system may qualify for a variance from their schedule. These “smart” controllers have sensors that adjust watering based on the local weather and your landscape’s condition. According to the EPA, when these systems are properly installed and programmed, they can save the average home almost 7,600 gallons of water a year compared to standard clock-timed controllers.
