Irrigation System Updates and Tick Control Plans
Time for your irrigation system to takeover after April’s showers
Now that spring has finally arrived, an irrigation system inspection is the first step to ensure your property is ready to face the stresses of the summer’s heat. Our professionals will check the underground lines, connections, valves, and sprinkler heads for any indication of leakage or damage after winter’s harsh weather. Each nozzle will be tested to be sure it is spraying in the proper direction, to minimize wasted water on paved surfaces and reduce run-off waste, and to maximize coverage for your lawn and plantings. Drip irrigation or micro-irrigation lines may be suggested for placement in planting and flower beds, and around trees and shrubs as a way to increase efficiency. Consider an upgrade to a “Smart” controller, in conjunction with a WaterSense irrigation system, to automatically adjust irrigation based on your property’s current condition and local weather predictions, saving an average of 7,500 gallons of water a year according to the EPA. Gerbert & Sons closely monitors Aquarion’s on-going irrigation guidelines and schedule for each of our service areas to be sure we are in compliance with all of their water conservation measures.
Tick prevention begins now
With April comes the first application of our 4-part comprehensive tick control program. As we spend more time outside enjoying the warmer weather, our area continues to be challenged with the threat of Lyme Disease carried by deer ticks and transmitted to humans and pets. We will assess your property for vulnerable places such as wooded areas at the edge of your lawn, to determine the best strategy for applying our organic spray or placing specially designed tick tubes to kill immature ticks before they can mature. We will continue to address this issue throughout the stages of the tick’s life cycle to keep this health risk at bay.
