Indoor and outdoor holiday safety tips

There’s nothing quite like the beauty and fragrance of a live tree to bring the spirit of the holidays into your home. To ensure it remains healthy throughout the season, be sure to first trim 1”-2” from the base and support it with a sturdy stand. The tree should be placed at least 3’ from any type of heat source, especially an open flame, and should not block an exit. Fill the stand with fresh water and refill it daily as needed. Other safety tips around the home include turning off decorative lights at night and when leaving the house, never leaving lit candles unattended, and not running electrical cords under carpeting or overloading extensions and outlets. Make certain all walkways, porches and driveways have been cleared of ice and snow, allowing for safe passage of family and guests. Outdoor lighting adds an additional sparkle to your home, along with providing a clear and welcoming path to your door.
