Focusing on Water Conservation
Irrigation tips
As we strive to be effective stewards of our environment, our irrigation specialists stay current with the latest developments in materials and strategies to maximize water use efficiency and conservation. Our irrigation systems are custom designed to address the specific water requirements for each property, with “smart” technology innovations that reduce waste and improve results, while complying with Aquarion’s watering schedule for our area. Proper maintenance, review and adjustments of these irrigation systems ensures they operate at optimum effectiveness, making every precious drop of water count.
Landscaping ideas
Planning ahead is an integral step in creating a property that is healthy and beautiful, while requiring the least amount of water to maintain. Choose plantings that are native species, hardy, and drought tolerant, and determine if they will be in sunny or shady areas throughout the day. Group them together in hydrozones based on their watering needs, to decrease waste and protect from overwatering and underwatering. Install drip or micro-irrigation in planting beds to send water directly to the root systems and eliminate loss due to evaporation. A proper layer of mulch provides additional protection that conserves moisture. Aerating your lawn allows for increased infiltration of water into the ground and greater flow to the vital root systems.
