A little light history…
Did you know that electric holiday lights originally came to be as an advertising stunt for Thomas Edison? In the winter of 1880, he decked the halls of his Menlo Park laboratory, in New Jersey, with enough lights that they could be seen from the Manhattan to Philadelphia railroad line. We all know how successful that was!
In the early 1900s, lights were such a luxury that the majority of people rented them instead of buying them. Today, of course, we all enjoy being able to come home to a festively lit home at the end of the day. And having a yard and driveway lit up and welcoming for all your guests certainly helps them find you!
