Spring Irrigation Notes
Irrigation check-up and watering schedule
As your lawn enters the new growing season, a well maintained and upgraded sprinkler system will ensure its optimal health and attractiveness. Our team of irrigation professionals will reopen your system and evaluate the sprinkler heads and water supply lines for any damage or adjustments that may be needed from the effects of winter. Proper maintenance will help conserve water as we strive to make your irrigation system as efficient as possible. Below is Aquarion Water’s sprinkler schedule for 2023, which is mandatory for the towns of Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Stamford and Westport. While voluntary this year for Easton, Weston and Wilton, it will become mandatory in 2024.
The advantages of drip irrigation
Drip irrigation is designed to minimize water waste while conserving soil nutrients. Soaker hoses are strategically placed around trees and shrubs and throughout planting beds, so the water flows directly into the root systems. This approach prevents loss due to evaporation, allowing the water to go deeper and stay longer, resulting in a healthier and more beautiful landscape. Because of the water saving advantages of this approach, Aquarion has no restrictions in place for the use of drip irrigation and soaker hoses. This system can be reconfigured as your property’s needs change and timers may be added to further increase efficiency.
